Riccardo Tisci dives into Burberry’s codes of its Resort 2021 Collection

The well-known British fashion firm Burberry, led by the Italian designer Riccardo Tisci since March 2018, has just shown the first images of its Resort collection for Spring / Summer 2021. A selection of garments for the Tisci has resorted, once again, to reinterpret the characteristic codes of the British firm, with the firm decision to transform them and endow them with a new vitality and modernity. Exactly the same thing that he has been doing so brilliantly since his arrival at the creative direction of the firm.

“For this season I wanted to be inspired by the familiar, in those things that give us comfort and strength,” explains Tisci himself through an statement released from Burberry. For this, “I have returned to the first thing I found inspiration in the Burberry’s heritage and its codes, such as its pattern, its iconic stripes and its unicorn emblems, but now revisiting them from a new perspective, incorporating elements of both sophistication as coming from the street and the urban world, and maintaining an open vision to the outside ”. In this sense, “England has some of the oldest and most beautiful gardens, so what he really wanted was to weave a pattern like roses for the entire collection”, of which the designer confessed feeling “very proud”, he also added: “it not only reflects and celebrates the unique codes that shape this home, but also the talent and diversity that represent the Burberry community.”

As a result of this last trip made by Tisci on the most characteristic codes of the British firm, the collection includes different historical pieces from the firm’s own archive. Garments such as its iconic raincoats and jackets or pleated skirts, which are now presented to us bathed in undeniable modernity, thanks to the incorporation of new patterns and motifs, such as the graffiti print “Love Print”, a laughing deer, English roses or the slogan “Don’t believe everything you think”. All this under a renewed color palette in which the traditional beige, birch brown, black and Burberry gray are combined, with new accents in shades of pink, red, marigold yellow and citrus.

Among the highlights of the women’s line, the trench coats are renewed with new prints and oversized pockets. The new garment motifs stand out in the same way, including a new “graffitied love” pattern, as well as pieces such as a merino wool jacquard vest, a marigold yellow plaid wool suit or a shirt dress “english roses” in Chinese silk crepe.

To complete the pre-collection for the Spring / Summer season of 2021, the Italian designer has created a whole series of new accessories, among which we will find, in his line of handbags, additions such as the “Pocket tote” or “ Soft Cube”, an elongated version of the “Cube”model, as well as new models of the “Basket Bag” or the “Olympia” bag. Adding to the footwear line new designs of shoes, sandals and slippers for both men and women.
