This 4th September the lucky winner of the 2019 LVMH Award has been announced: Thebe Magugu. This 25 years old, South African designer has irrupted the fashion industry in the best possible way.
His powerful and very political message in his women’s wear collection has
captivated the eye and mind of the jury, making him the lucky winner this year
of the LVMH Prize.
And not only he has a coveted collection available, but together with the other finalists and the 24S platform, the ultimate collaboration is out: a capsule collection entirely designed by the eight talented finalists. The platform, which last July turned two years and also launched the male section on the website (featuring luxurious and exclusive collections by brands such as Celine, Fendi or Dior) has released more than 50 pieces (by now) available online-only for those who desperately want to get their hands on the exclusive designs of Anrealage, Bethany Williams, Bode, Hed Mayner, Kenneth Ize, Phipps, Stefan Cooke and, of course, Thebe Magugu.
The piece selection could not be more perfect. It completely reflects the essence of a new generation of talent and fashion conception. The LVMH Award has become a reference among new designers who see their careers get boost in the fashion industry, the main winner examples: Jaquemus or Marine Serre but even others who haven’t won the price such as Virgil Abloh who was merely a finalist in 2015, three years later became the new artistic director of menswear for Louis Vuitton.
The capsule collection will be
extended now that the winner has been announced. You can discover the selection
